Tshisekedi and Kir meet to "stabilize the border towns”

Arriving Sunday in Juba (South Sudan), the President of DRC, Felix Tshisekedi, had a one-on-one meeting with his Sudanese counterpart Salva Kiir, discussing hydrocarbons and the arms embargo on South Sudan. During the nearly three-hour meeting, they also discussed ways to stabilize the border towns.

"It is normal that the two Heads of State could look into the means and mechanisms to stabilize the common border and the border towns," said the Head of State's special representative, Serge Tshibangu, who led the team of precursors to Juba on Saturday.

The meeting between the Congolese and South Sudanese Heads of State strengthens the bilateral relations between the two neighboring countries, which share a long border of nearly 650 kilometers. After Juba, Tshisekedi went to Abijan, where he is participating in COP15 on climate.
