Senegal: in 100 days, the Regional Express Trains carried 5M passengers and brought 3B CFA

The Minister of Infrastructure, Land Transport and Disenclavement of Senegal, Mansour Faye, boasted of having transported 5 million passengers or 50 thousand passengers per day and generated 3 billion CFA francs since its launch on Monday, December 27, 2021. According to the Minister, these prove that the users experience "daily life changed in terms of time and money savings."

Citing APIX figures, Minister Mansour Faye said that of "the 15 trains available, 12 are in circulation and the three remaining will be put into circulation as soon as possible. Moreover, there will be 22 trains that will be put into circulation with the extension of the AIBD line."

Regarding the fares considered high by some, the Minister highlighted that revisions on the prices may be considered with time.

Asked about the lack of a station in the department of Keur Massar, Mansour Faye promises that "appropriate responses will be made as the operation and studies will be conducted in this direction. In the meantime, we will organize a service with buses that will take passengers to the nearest stations."
