Marine Le Pen: Cutting off gas and oil imports from Russia would be a blow to French families

Marine Le Pen, a candidate in the French presidential election, opposes sanctions on Russian gas and oil. In her opinion, imposing such an embargo would harm French families.

"Stopping gas and oil imports from Russia would be a serious blow to French families," Marine Le Pen, Emmanuel Macron's main rival in the presidential election, said on Thursday.

"I am not against sanctions per se, but I am against those sanctions from which the French will suffer more than the Russians," she said.

"They are now proposing to cut us off from Russian gas and oil, but that would be a real drama for French families," the National Unity leader believes.

European Union diplomacy chief Josep Borrell stated that the embargo on Russian oil was not included in the fifth package of sanctions imposed on Russia. The issue is to be discussed by EU foreign ministers on Monday.
